The Consulate General of India, Shanghai in joint collaboration with Indian diaspora organized celebration of the year – Diwali Mela on Saturday, 29 October 2022. Diwali Mela was designed to unite, engage and entertain every member of Indian family. Besides a display of the Indian culture and arts, organised several events to showcase the talents of the members of Indian community with a – “Kandil making Competition, Rangoli Competition and Mother/Father and Children Fashion Show”. Newly established people’s group China Indian Community (CIC) was instrumental in successfully organising the event.
Shanghai Kannadigaru volunteers participated in the Diwali Mela to showcase Karnataka’s rich heritage with a pavilion (stall) named as ”Suvarna Karnataka”.
We present this year’s theme, “Millets and Yoga – for a healthy tomorrow. Displayed different millets that are grown in Karnataka and also the benefits of consuming millets in our day to day life. Ragi malt and chutney powders representative of the food made from millets.
Yoga master, “Ganesh” displayed about yoga and ayurveda at our pavilion.
Also displayed the famous ilkal sarees and mysore silk sarees.
Visitors learnt Karnataka’s culture and tourism from our stall. Also relished the food that is home to Karnataka, our famous mysore pak and holige.. sip of filter coffee too.
